What Guests Are Saying
Hurricane River Campground offers a beautiful and quiet setting with well-maintained, spacious campsites located near Lake Superior and hiking trails. Campers enjoyed the clean facilities, scenic views, and proximity to stunning sunsets and the beach. While some experienced challenges with the reservation system and biting flies, many found the campground to be a lovely retreat and a great base for exploring the area.

Even though I only spent the night there, it was a fantastic campground. Catching the sunrise over by the lighthouse was one of my favorite things I've done all year. I had no cell service whatsoever, which made the experience even better. 10/10

We stayed at the Lower Hurricane River Campground for a week in mid-August. Beautiful campsites provide privacy from neighboring sites. The parking for the AuSable Lighthouse trail (part of the North Country Trail) just before the entrance to the campground is typically filled for most of the day. The trail goes through the campground. The campground's water station is shared with hikers, as are the spacious and generally clean vault toilet facilities. There's a short and easily accessible pathway leading down to the beach. Trash is picked up daily, and maintenance is provided to the campground facilities. On our last night the batteries to the water station had failed, so we had to drive 0.2 miles to the Upper Hurricane River Campground to get water for drinking and cooking. The beach is great for watching sunsets, and campsites are convenient to multiple hiking trails.

Be prepared for up north bugs, plan a accordingly, and you'll be golden.
Clean site, wonderful hosts, so much to see. If you're adventurous and bring your day pack gear the chapel falls-mosquito falls loop is a must.

This was the best campsite I have ever stayed at! Our site had a little trail that went straight down to the water, it was so peaceful and serene. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back already!

Very disappointing that there was no firewood for sale at campground. After driving 4 hours we need to drive another 23 miles round trip to Grand Morais to get some.

This campground was perfect for us. Sites are very private and steps away from the river and the beach.
