What Guests Are Saying
Ausable River Camping offers a beautiful and serene environment, with spacious, well-maintained sites and picturesque views of the river. Campers appreciate the remote, rustic charm and the opportunities for fishing and hiking. While there are some concerns regarding ticks, road conditions, noise from generators, and occasional issues with campsite bookings, many visitors still express a strong desire to return for another experience in nature.

Love the campsites here just as they are, just wish other campers would learn the rules. Bury your damn toilet paper, stop cutting live trees and walk the campsite before you leave and pack your trash out. Previous users failed at all 3 left us egg shells and trash all over and brought coons in as a result. Lots of downed and dead trees in the area, learn how to camp or stay at KOA.

The campsites are great and the river is beautiful. Watch out for the raccoons and trash.

Great, secluded campsite. Please keep it clean for the next campers and pack out ALL of your trash.
Looking forward to getting back soon.

Camp site 05c was not marked and in bad shape; litter multiple campfire pits etc., etc.. The site was excisable by vehicle, human excrement was not disposed of below ground. Camp site 21c was not marked but was in very good shape. Camp site 83c was not marked and occupied by unregistered campers who drove to the location and forced me to move to a different location which was horrible. Many/most of the "Boat In" camp sites are not marked and many had camper/trailers on them. I will be writing a detailed letter to the: Director of the Department of the Interior.

Horrible Site. Fully overgrown and near impossible to find. We were able to confirm our location with GPS and we were able to see the fire pits of past campers, but there was no usable space. I would recommend closing this site.

Site 16C is at 44°29'35.5"N 83°46'46.5"W (44.493194, -83.779583) and should be checked vs the rec.gov map, as it was marked farther downstream than it was in reality. The site is clean, flat and comfortable. There is only a fire ring, without grate. Rudimentary steps bring you up about 10' from the river. There is open woods with soft earth nearby for digging cat-holes. Overall lovely site with nearly the full width of the river flowing downstream over cobbled bottom.
