What Guests Are Saying
Ausable River Camping offers a beautiful and serene environment, with spacious, well-maintained sites and picturesque views of the river. Campers appreciate the remote, rustic charm and the opportunities for fishing and hiking. While there are some concerns regarding ticks, road conditions, noise from generators, and occasional issues with campsite bookings, many visitors still express a strong desire to return for another experience in nature.

The site was huge and amazing. Gorgeous views of the river and easy river access made this Texan camping family of 5 very happy. There was plenty of space to spread out our two large tents, shade canopy (even though the site was almost completed shaded), toilet tent, and small table and chairs. There is a mostly flat path to access this site and the other three in this section, but it does go right through the middle of each site. Other steeper paths were available, but not easily accessible while hauling in gear in wagons. Our biggest complaint was there were two different large groups near us on different nights that destroyed the peaceful atmosphere. I wish they enforce these sites being single family rather than large groups of 12-16. Jet skis, chainsaws (we assume they were cutting up downed wood), drumming, singing, and loud talking until past 11 pm were such a disappointment. Thankfully those happened on our last of four nights in this pristine setting. If it wasn't 20 hours from home, we would definitely be back.

Very beautiful location with an excellent view of the sun setting. I saw many birds including green herons, bald eagles, trumpeter swans, and kingfishers. The songs of the indigo buntings, whip-poor-wills, and white throated sparrows are enchanting. The only downside is that there was a lot of goose poop but oh well, it's nature!

Always a beautiful view of the River, The only issue is with the steps going down to the river, they are very dangerous if you're not good with your footing.

About a 1 min walk to site. Nice views of the river from site. Easy access down a small bank to get to river.
