What Guests Are Saying
Ausable River Camping offers a beautiful and serene environment, with spacious, well-maintained sites and picturesque views of the river. Campers appreciate the remote, rustic charm and the opportunities for fishing and hiking. While there are some concerns regarding ticks, road conditions, noise from generators, and occasional issues with campsite bookings, many visitors still express a strong desire to return for another experience in nature.

We stayed 7 days on 62w 63w and 64w like we do multiple times a year. These sites are beautiful. The hike in to 62 is not far. We had a small issue with 64w having a toilet left on it as well as toilet paper but we called and it was cleaned up for us the next morning by a very nice young man. Sites 63w and 64w are a little tough getting down to the water. But definitely not impossible. Site 62w has almost a 3 tier sandy beach area where we dock our pontoon we rent from rollaway campground. The sand is suffering from erosion with makes the walk down to the water a little tough for some. These are my family's favorite sites and we have our family reunion here every year. The elderly members usually book cabins or nearby hotels because they are tent sites. But we have always managed to get them to our camp to spend family fun time.

Steps down to the water, clean site.
You can reach all three sites on this out cropping via their own trails. However people have a tendency to walk straight through your camp because the left branch trail is wider and more used then the smaller trails.
Bugs, biting flies especially, are an issue when the wind off the river dies down in the evening. Be prepared to be in a big proof zone or deal with them.
Need to check out lumbermans over look, stairs down are worth the trip back up.

Decent little from shore fishing spot if you’re willing to venture down the steep trail to the bottom.

Incredible place and far enough from other campers. Love the wilderness.

Loved everything about AuSable. Large, beautiful site, view of the river, and the history. Hated to leave! Must see Lumberman’s Monument!
