What Guests Are Saying
Ausable River Camping offers a beautiful and serene environment, with spacious, well-maintained sites and picturesque views of the river. Campers appreciate the remote, rustic charm and the opportunities for fishing and hiking. While there are some concerns regarding ticks, road conditions, noise from generators, and occasional issues with campsite bookings, many visitors still express a strong desire to return for another experience in nature.

We thoroughly enjoyed camping on the Ausable River. We did have to do some cleaning up from the previous occupants as they left a bunch of trash in the fire pit and many beer bottle tops scattered around the grounds. It's a shame that people have to be disrespectful of the land and other people. The site itself was beautiful, fairly easy to get to, lots of wildlife, and the occasional boat traffic for entertainment. We plan to make this an annual trip even though it's a 4 hour drive. Well worth it.

I was not happy with the mess left by previous campers, or that hiking trails are located so close to the site, but the rangers were exceptionally helpful and kind. Beautiful location, and lots of wildlife.

It is a very nice site. The one thing that I would recommend, (and this goes for all the primitive camp sites), is that they should have drop boxes installed. This would really cut down on improper human waste conditions at the camping sites.

Loved my calling calling spot but the site to the right of me was too close for comfort. A very ostentatious elderly couple pulled in and set up their rig next door, both of these people were extremely rude & disliked dogs. If pick a more recluse spot next time.
