What Guests Are Saying
Lake Michigan at St. Ignace offers a beautiful campground with clean facilities and large sites, providing excellent access to the beach and stunning sunset views. While road noise from the nearby highway can be disruptive, especially during the day, it tends to quiet down at night. Campers should be prepared for mosquitoes, but overall, many guests appreciate the well-maintained grounds and friendly hosts, making it a favored spot for a relaxing stay by the water.

The campsite was clean, and a perfect location for our weekend at the beach. The site was protected from wind and storms and still close to the beach for sunrise, sunsets and swimming! The campground was very quiet and clean. We will definitely be back!

Stayed at site 9 for 2 nights. Great site for small to mid-sized tent (ours was 10x8 and fit perfect). A larger tent would be tricky to get on the site. Short walk down to the beach and not too steep. Bathrooms were clean. 100% would stay here again. For the most part the sites have some privacy between them in the form of woods. Convenient spot as it is less than 20 minutes away from St. Iggy. Stayed in mid July and no bugs!

We stayed at this campground during our week-long Lake Michigan Circle Tour road trip with our 6yo and 8yo children. We stayed at a total of 6 different campgrounds, all but one at state or national parks/forests. This was BY FAR everyone's favorite campsite. From having beach access right at our site to the way the site is nestled into the woods with a relative sense of privacy, it was such a unique experience. It was also gorgeous and watching the sunset from the beach was a highlight of the trip. Though we live more than 8 hours away, this was the one site we all said we wanted to return to one day. So worth it. (Bring insect repellent, pants, hoodie, and socks. The mosquitos were the only negative.)
There is firewood available for purchase at this campground. The nearest dump station and water fill-up is at the Brevort Campground nearby.

Lake Michigan St. Ignace Campground is excellent for a great rustic camping experience. The only issue was the difficult lake access due to the washed out stairs which cannot be helped.

Private, peaceful and right on Lake Michigan. Sites are large and meticulously maintained. When we arrived, ours was freshly raked. The vault toilets were exceptionally clean. Our site was up about 5 steps up from the parking pad area and then it was about 40 yards on our private trail to the dune over looking the beach. (we did get cell service when were were up here, but not down at our site. ) From there it was only 10 steps down in the sand to the beach. We have camped at 10 different camp grounds on or near the water in Michigan and this is a favorite. Yes, you can hear the traffic, but you can also hear the waves. There are only about 30 sites and they were not all full. We barely saw people. It was like having our own private beach and overlook.
Different people want different things in a campsite. If you want a large, private site, right next to Lake Michigan that is clean and you don't need a camp store, running water, or mind the traffic sounds, this is the place for you.
You are 20 mins from St. Ignace, an hour 10 mins, from Tahquamenon Falls, and 2 hours from Manistique.

Bring your own hand sanitizer as the provided one leaves some to be desired. Beach has become a little rocky. Lovely restaurants and attractions in St. Ignace. Campground is just a short drive from many natural wonders (Tahquamenon, kitchi- it-tipi and Mackinac Island are just a few). Been camping here for 42 years. The place is just awesome.
