We went a weekend ago for the first time, it was clean and nice camping areas. Full hookups for 20.00 a night it’s a big park with some great views. Only thing we found strange was check out at 4:00 pm and check in at 5:00 pm. Us older-retired folks don’t like arriving in the evening and set up camp. Other than that we had an enjoyable stay.

I live in St. Louis and have been coming to Mark Twain Lake for the last couple years. It's a great place to get away from the big city; the area is so peaceful and calm. Our last trip in May we encountered quite a bit of rain, so we had to spend a great deal of time inside the camper...if the area has one problem is the lack of good OTA TV reception and no WIFI, just bring a number of DVDs during bad weather. Overall, we had a great time and will return.

Great campground. Peaceful even when full due to very large wooded campsites.

Reservations only kills the spontaneity of camping. I also learned how easy it is to overbook then cancel- no bueno.
