About Ford Cabin

Ford Cabin offers a cozy, rustic getaway along the appropriately named Wild and Scenic North Fork of the Flathead River. It is about 45 miles north of Columbia Falls, in northwestern Montana. Visitors enjoy a variety of recreational activities, including fishing, viewing wildlife and exploring the area's many trails. The cabin is available from May 22 to March 31. It can be access by vehicle, however four-wheel drive and chains are recommended during the winter. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities. The majority of the road from Columbia Falls to Ford Cabin is gravel, so be prepared for dust during your drive and at the cabin.

What Guests Are Saying

The Ford Cabin is a charming and well-equipped retreat, ideally situated near scenic river views and perfect for activities like cross-country skiing. Guests appreciate its cleanliness, basic amenities, and the overall positive experience, despite some noise from packrats at night. While some challenges exist, such as the difficulty in making reservations and managing the heater, many would happily return for another stay.

Had high hopes for this cabin but.
The road and rafters access made for a busy loud experience. If you are looking for privacy and solitude with wildlife try somewhere else!
However the cabin itself was very nice.

Excellent place to stay. Cabin was well stocked with everything from cooking and cleaning supplies to games and books. Extremely well taken care of, and a great time all around. The two gas lights are dim, so bring a reading light for night time. Absolutely. beautiful location all around, well worth the visit, even in the winter.

There is a pack rat living in the cabin under the porch. Some people think it's cute, but it kept me awake, running around the cabin and making squeaking noises throughout the night. It is also not shy. Saturday night, I was standing on the porch and when I saw water dripping off the roof, I thought it might be raining, but it was the rat taking a wiz off the rafters. I looked up and it was staring at me. Another night, it was staring at me from the window sill. Also rat poo and pee to deal with every morning. If you think that's cute, have a great time! Cabin is small and cozy, located right off the main North Fork road near the boat put in at the river, so there will be some car traffic. Gas lights and cooking stove...no refrigerator, so bring a cooler. Hope this info. is helpful. I know people who are terrified of rats, so thought you should know. I love the forestry cabins, but I'll be staying at another one next time. :)

We had a great reprieve from a week of camping with a night at Ford Cabin in the middle. Unfortunately the large bed was super squeaky, though the mattresses were soft. Also, the deer mouse that lives under the porch was super cute! Pit toilet was clean and the yard was beautiful.
