Many Glacier Campground

We have been coming to MGCG for over 20 years. It is a truly beautiful place. Trail heads are close by, When the concession is operating at full capacity there are laundry and shower facilities as well as a reasonable resturant and very good camp store. The ranger staff is excellent. Looking forward to next year and hoping the Covid insanity has finally gone away.

Great campground. We stayed 2 nights at 2 different sites because we planned later and had to take what we could reserve. The restroom near site 67 was nicer because it had been upgraded more recently. Close to several trails. We enjoyed the hike to Piegan Pass and got great views of 3 lakes, 3 named waterfalls and 3 moose.
We had to wait about 40 minutes for construction on the drive in just like it warns about in the park newspaper and website. We did not have to wait at all on the drive out on a Saturday. We saw a grizzly bear a couple miles from the campground on the drive out.

This is a splendid campground in the most beautiful place on earth.

If you require online reservations you should have access to internet in the park. The bathrooms windows were closed and during COVID they should be open.

Many Glaciers was a great campground. Prefered it to the western side, less commercial and more rugged. Be aware that it is not on the Going to the Sun Road so a ticket needs purchased. This is not clear on the website.

Really wonderful time. The campsite is the best-maintained NPS site I've ever stayed at. Cold, fresh water pumps, bear food storage lockers, fire rings, CLEAN bathrooms with sinks and flushing toilets, and a grey water dump sink - more than I could have asked for. R010 was beautifully shaded, and despite being close to the parking lot for the inn and road, it was quiet and felt like we were still in nature. R014 was much sunnier, and the parking lot/building was visible from it. We didn't feel it was noisier, but it was certainly less secluded. If I had the choice, I'd have stayed in 10, but it was still lovely to be in the park at all. We weren't bothered by the sounds of RV generators when they were on, and they stuck to the quiet hours. I'm so impressed with how friendly and helpful the rangers were, despite probably answering the same questions a hundred times a day.

Many Glacier was as epic as you’d expect and then some

Let me start off with the good: Obviously, 5 stars for the location. Easy access to many epic trailheads. A moose and her baby were in our campground three times during our seven night stay. How cool is that?

Now, the not so good:
1. ) You'll have to be at your computer right when reservations open up, frantically pushing the *book now" button and praying it ends up in your cart. Otherwise, you'll be checking recreation.gov every spare second you get and hope you time it right and snag a cancellation.
2.) Major road construction to get to MG, so expect delays. The road that hasn't been fixed is gravel filled, bumpy and full of potholes.
3.) It's bear country! The rangers patrol like crazy and will cite you. Every time you leave your campground, you will need to pack up anything that can attract bears (camp stoves, coolers, water bottles, tablecloths!). So at least twice a day, we packed up almost everything. Annoying, but understandable.
4.) Designated generator hours three times a day, in the middle of the day. Sites range from shady to sunny. Our site was semi shady, so we had to sit around in the middle of the day to make sure our refrigerator had enough power so our food wouldn't spoil during a heatwave. Obviously, that limited our daily activities.
5. We stayed seven nights. My friends had to piecemeal three separate reservations at three separate campsites. At check in, the ranger said the only way we could check cancellations and extent the stay at the site was to go on recreation.gov. Not helpful at all considering there is ZERO cell service.
6. Lastly, it was really sad to see that a lot of reserved sites were no shows. Given how difficult it is to secure a site, this was so not cool.

Vicious bugs everywhere. We had two Theramacells, citronella wristbands and bug spray and still got eaten alive. Yes, I know this is the great outdoors.

We have visited and camped at over 20 NPs and this was the poorest run by far.

We had cites R6, R7, R47, R55, and R58 - my group had to hobble together different sites to accommodate the length of our visit and the competitiveness of booking. Swapping camp sites mid-trip was not a big deal, the rangers made it easy, and I'd recommend it if you're trying to piece together a longer trip. The camps varied in size and tree cover (R6, R7 were best for shade), but all were completely fine and comfortable for at least one 6p tent. All but one (R47) had plenty of space for pull-through parking. Lots of water spouts and bathrooms, it was never a long walk. Rangers are serious about bears. The camp store is close and really handy. The campground itself is magical. The beauty of the area is hard to take in. Was there 4 days and wish I could have stayed another 4. Should you have the chance, go!

There was no warning to the 11 miles of road construction leading into the campground. The guide listed pay showers at the motor in next door but found out only after we had sat in the construction & overcrowding traffic for an hour that they were closed due to covid and the only close pay showers were back through the traffic.
