What Guests Are Saying
Silver Valley Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained location, ideal for families and offering a peaceful atmosphere, with clean bathrooms and friendly camp hosts. The proximity to the lake and nearby hiking trails enhances the overall experience, making it a favorite spot for many campers. However, some sites, particularly site 20, may have uneven ground and overgrowth, which can be a drawback for certain campers.

Really nice campground. Close to the lake. Good lake beach access. Good hiking. Nice hike around the lake. Excellent, but tough, hike up to Inspiration Point. Some trails could be signed better, but it looks like they are in the process of adding more signs.
Nice clean bathrooms - pit toilets, but cleaned regularly, pretty new, and well stocked with decent TP.

The camp host, Nick runs a tight ship. The camp was very well organized. The restrooms were cleaned three times a day. Each camp site was clean and orderly upon check in. The lake was easy walking distance from camp.

Very beautiful spot, but no kidding watch out for Bears as they methodically hit many campgrounds even though it was a full house. I believe they even broke into some vehicles. Store your food in the lockers and hide your coolers as they knew to target coolers. I had my huge cooler scratched and bitten in their effort to dump out its contents. Scary way to wake up in the middle of the night with a big brownie standing over your cooler. That was just the first night. They hit us again the next night and dumped a cooler full of drinks, no food. We finally averted their attention on the 3rd night there. The hike down to the pond was short 4-5 mile roundtrip, very relaxing and picturesque. Loved the spot left me with a memorable experience to say the least.

Everything about the campsites was great, except we had two different sites (locations) on our trip and each had neighbors that drank until 3 or 4 AM or later. Your "security" people would drive through and occasionally say something to the offenders. I would recommend you tell them to give two warnings, second one, the sheriffs are called.
I had my 5 and 10 year old girls and their young cousins. in both instances, the neighbors cursed loud and drunken and said very sexual and offensive things, well into the night. They also played explicit music very loud. The experience has ruined this type of camping for me.
Also, we rented a patio boat with a slide and when we went to pick it up, you had already booked them all. I understand mistakes so it wasn't a big deal, it was disappointing though. It was father's day and my cousins dad drove 4 hours to spend it on a patio boat with us, ony to find out we had to rent fishing boats (with small kids) are stay on shore for the day.

When we got to our reserved RV spot, it was an extreme slope - not conducive for an RV. Found the Rangers and they said to see the camp hosts at another park nearby. We drove there and talked to the camp host who said to see another onsite camp host. Found them and it was two brothers who live there. They were unprofessional and no help at all. After not accepting their sorry but we're full diatribe, I said we paid for and reserved a spot at Lake Alpine and we need to stay in a level space for an RV. He then sent us to find a guy driving a white truck in an overflow campground. We went up the road to that place and found the guy. He was accommodating and showed us to a wonderful spot in this overflow campground. But what we went through to get there was awful!

The campsite was covered in snow and mud. Literally a river running through it from some of the snow that was melting, but a foot and a half of snow covering the fire grate in other parts of the campsite. We ended up at a different overflow site where the porta potties were refused to be serviced for a week. I ended up finding a long stick to topple the pile of gross and it still was overflowing. Signs saying that if that wasn't good enough "too bad". We ended up going home early.
Totally a ruined trip. Will not be back.

This high alpine campground is very old, and was not designed and built with modern RVs in mind. It contains narrow roads, tight turns, and many, many inconvenient boulders and trees. RVs are allowed in every site if they fit, but this campground is a far cry from an RV park. The only surefire way to know if you can comfortably fit your RV in a specific site is to take an exploratory trip to scout it out for yourself. |
