What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained camping experience in Chaco Canyon, with stunning views, amazing night skies, and friendly campground hosts who provide valuable information and assistance. The campground is clean and organized, featuring level sites and access to hiking trails and ancient ruins. However, visitors should be aware of the rough access roads, limited privacy between campsites, and occasional issues with water and restroom facilities.

Gallo is a unique experience to stay in a park of the type such as chaco. Take your time in the park and visit the outlier ruins. There are few programs, and the museum is minimal, but it is still a place worth a visit.

A very respectful group of campers! As it started to get dark, everyone in the tent area was aware of others and kept their voices/noise low so that everyone could enjoy the surroundings. Bathrooms were clean and functional. Tent space was level! A good experience, and Chaco is an amazing place.

We had a magnificent time at the Gallo Campground. Campsites were well organized, spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Check-in/out was easy. Restrooms and camping facilities were very clean and well kept at all times. Looking forward to camping again at the Gallo Campground.

We stayed at the campgrounds right before the Chaco ruins and it was very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms were also very clean. When we went to the visitor center the staff was very friendly as they always are at National Parks, the room showing everything was very informative and slightly interactive. Sadly they didn’t have any artifacts on display and they had signs up saying why they were gone but I forgot what they said. However all of the Chaco ruins are crazy, being able to step back in time by just walking 5 minutes away from the car, it’s an unreal feeling. We did go for a stargazing event but it was raining almost all night. However, we eventually got a break in the clouds and the rain and we were stunned with a sky filled with stars. If you can definitely go for their events around this. They always have it when the moon is in the right spot so the moon light doesn’t affect the sight of the stars. We’ll definitely be back for when it’s clear.

Good facilities, washroom & camping sites. Need regulation/enforcement of bright lights in campground in the evening. If Chaco is rated as a dark sky location then it needs to be dark in the campsite as we were not allowed to leave the campsite after 9pm. Or there should be somewhere we can actual go to at night to observe the skies without campground interference. Was disappointed to not be able to do astrophotography, especially after suffering the terrible roads into Chaco.

Very clean, quiet, campground. Water is available and we had no problems parking our 22 foot camper van.

I enjoyed my stay in the campground. This is an amazing place! I enjoyed the Astrofest. Both speakers were excellent and the Albuquerque astronomy group sharing their telescopes made the week.

Chaco is superb. Campsite was clean and comfortable. Other campers were courteous. Stars were stunning without the moon!
