What Guests Are Saying
Tetilla Peak offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere at an affordable price, especially for America the Beautiful pass holders. While the campground is poorly maintained, with issues like limited water access, potholes, and cleanliness, the attentive site manager and beautiful surroundings compensate for some shortcomings. Visitors appreciate the tranquility and scenic sunsets, though the lack of privacy and amenities may detract for some campers.

It was good, the campsite was clean. There are no trees so I don’t recommend going when the weather is really hot if you are tent camping. The shelters provide a little relief, but that’s about it. It was otherwise pretty standard. The amenities are not new but everything worked and I personally didn’t have any issues. Not all campsites have grills, and campfires are not allowed. Luckily we had a little stove to use. The campsites are just a short walk downhill and there are plenty of little spots to hang out around the lake. The views are beautiful.

No water, no showers and they locked the bathrooms and recreation.gov was zero help in letting me change campgrounds. Top 5 worst developed campgrounds ever.and I camp alot.

There was no water for the hook up and no water in the bathrooms. The showers were locked. There was no park ranger at the station and no host at the campground. There were other campers that were ignoring campground rules, the had their dog off leash, they were drinking alcohol, and they played loud music until 2:0 in the morning. We left a day early, not worth staying. You might as well close this campground since it has no services at all.

Really enjoyed my short stay. The campground roads are a wonderful walk with all kinds of birds.

Advertised as having a water hookup. There was indeed a spigot at the site, but it didn’t produce any water. Also, there were signs around stating that the water was non potable. The campground appeared to be neglected as infrastructure was aging and some areas blocked off. Electric did work, but there was only 30 amp. Dump station was okay. Might be nice if you’re into water activities (but not swimming). Road into the campground was rough.

This facility should have a great big yellow alert sign on it for rec.gov as if you look at campsites they say they have electric and water but you have to go into the facility information where it's mentioned in same type letters and font that there is no water at the campground currently but it's my understanding it's been that way for some time.
Out of all the coe Parks I've stayed at from North Carolina to Texas,Arizona, Oklahoma and Ohio,Missouri, Kansas and Kentucky this is by far the worst corps of engineers campground period hands down.

This place has a ton of potential but fell far short of expectations especially with a 4.4 star review out of 400 reviews. When you pull off of NM 16 onto Tetilla Peak Rd. there are huge potholes everywhere. We arrived at Tetilla Peak Campground to find that the water was non-potable, with very little water pressure (the pressure was so low it didn’t push the check valve on the trailer so no water into the trailer), but the bathrooms were open, and you could was your dishes in a tub outside.
There were no employees at the park, recreation.gov answered the phone but couldn’t provide a refund or change reservations in any way. The gave a phone number for the manager of the campground but nobody answered the phone. The first night we saw an employee arrive and we thought they were cleaning the bathrooms but they just locked them and left. On the second day the water went out everywhere and still nobody answered the phone.
The campground has nice covers over the picnic tables, the views at sunrise and sunset were amazing though this place looked like it was abandoned years ago. Until they decide to take some pride in the campground I would stay away from this place. The Cochita campground is on the other side of the lake and looks way nicer I would recommend you go there instead.

To start the road in needs major repairs and the entrance area and then up to the park.
Signage into the park needs to be better.
Not sure why the park closes mid October.
