What Guests Are Saying
Tetilla Peak Campground offers a peaceful and beautiful environment with stunning views, especially during sunrise and sunset. While the campground is affordable and has attentive site management, it suffers from maintenance issues, including outdated facilities and limited water availability. Visitors appreciate the tranquility but note challenges such as poor road conditions and cleanliness, suggesting it may not suit those seeking extensive amenities or privacy.

This place has a ton of potential but fell far short of expectations especially with a 4.4 star review out of 400 reviews. When you pull off of NM 16 onto Tetilla Peak Rd. there are huge potholes everywhere. We arrived at Tetilla Peak Campground to find that the water was non-potable, with very little water pressure (the pressure was so low it didn’t push the check valve on the trailer so no water into the trailer), but the bathrooms were open, and you could was your dishes in a tub outside.
There were no employees at the park, recreation.gov answered the phone but couldn’t provide a refund or change reservations in any way. The gave a phone number for the manager of the campground but nobody answered the phone. The first night we saw an employee arrive and we thought they were cleaning the bathrooms but they just locked them and left. On the second day the water went out everywhere and still nobody answered the phone.
The campground has nice covers over the picnic tables, the views at sunrise and sunset were amazing though this place looked like it was abandoned years ago. Until they decide to take some pride in the campground I would stay away from this place. The Cochita campground is on the other side of the lake and looks way nicer I would recommend you go there instead.

To start the road in needs major repairs and the entrance area and then up to the park.
Signage into the park needs to be better.
Not sure why the park closes mid October.

No water was bad enough but then as soon as I pulled into space, entire campground electricity went out & park ranger was very condescending ... And the site was supposed to be for my 40' rig & it was so small that I was forced to pull in on an angle & still sticking out in street ... He said call recreation.gov & when I called recreation.gov they said I'd have to talk to park ranger since their system didn't even say there was an issue ... and of course this happened after park ranger left the location ... NO ONE ONSITE TO TALK TO ! Electricity didn't come back on until next day but was still charged rate of a site with WATER & ELECTRICITY ... Asked for a credit & was denied ... First time at a USACE location & will never go to another one !!!

Beautiful. It's older compared to the sites on the other side of the lake.
There is H2O at one pump at the entrance after the dump station. H20 in the toilet house and sinks in the toilet house only. The night sky is amazing. The sites are big but they need a little racking for your own benefit.

CONS: dirty restrooms (didn't use, had my camper), no potable water, road into campground had HUGE potholes so drive very slowly/carefully
PROS: camped in October and only a few other people there, very quiet, campsites were very level and fairly well spaced out, only $10 a night for my electric!

This review is solely for the campground. The tent loop (Coyo) is all street parking, no driveways. The sites are well spaced and have beautiful views, but most of them are so unmaintained that you’d have a tough time finding anywhere to pitch your tent at all. It’s worth the extra few bucks to stay in the loop with hookups just to have a good tent pad. The bathrooms are serviceable, but they’re also long since forgotten about. It’s beautiful, but I don’t think anybody has maintained the grounds in decades.
The BIA road coming in is all paved and isn’t horrendous, but be very careful as there are some large (avoidable) pot holes that could easily ruin your day. Recommend you come before sunset for this reason.

Showed up for reservation to showers being locked and no water at camp site. This was our rest stop and we left a day early. Plus no host.

Nice place to camp, not fancy.

We had to groom our site: Pull knee high weeds; cut down small tree from under picnic table so it could be used; mark two very large ant hills in order to avoid them. Very hard for women to shave legs when there's no light in the shower room

This was a wonderful little campground. The views are exceptional and it was so wonderfully quiet out there, which is one of the things I love. The only downside at all was there were lots of goat head stickers but that’s the only problem. Showers were decent and lots of hot water and all together a great experience.
