About Cedar Creek (Sam Tobias)
Located on the outskirts of Ruidoso, Cedar Creek provides a wonderful space for groups visiting for the day or staying overnight. With a picnic shelter and three group campsites, the recreation area is ideal for an outing in Lincoln National Forest.
A popular pastime is is hiking and mountain biking along the scenic multi-use trails adjacent to the Sam Tobias Memorial Group Campground. There are opporunities to see a number of different wildlife, including Mule deer and Elk in the area.

Our family really enjoys this location due to the fact there are bathroom facility's there. Also the pavilion there will hold a large group at least 30 people comfortably. Offers a large chacole grill as well. It is also at the start of a lot of bike trails as well. We can ride for hours and still have not explored them all. This is our third time to rent this space and we will be renting anytime we go to ruidoso. Especially if you have a place there to stay great for day trip.

The campground itself was great, very Clean and spacious. Willie met us on arrival and was very helpful and answered all questions. The only downfall was the excessively loud campers in the adjacent sites. They were both up well past 2am being extremely loud. It would be great if that was able to be monitored more. We booked the site to enjoy peace and quiet and that was not what we got.
I would recommend this site for all the positive attributes, just hope if you do you have considerate neighbors

From Ruidoso on Mechem Drive, take Cedar Creek Road west .5 mi.
Cedar Creek is the first recreational area located on the right (north).

Cedar Creek is accessible via Cedar Creek Road, which connects to NM-48 approximately 5 miles to the east. NM-48 provides access to Ruidoso and other nearby regions.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
