What Guests Are Saying
Black Canyon Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and beautiful surroundings, making it a favored spot for campers. The spacious sites, friendly camp hosts, and proximity to hiking trails and Santa Fe enhance the overall experience. However, the lack of water has been a consistent issue, and some visitors have reported problems with caterpillar infestations and site accessibility.

Very nice, wooded, quiet campground only 7 miles from Santa Fe. It is on a hill and there are no hook ups, camp water or dump Station in May. When Hyde Memorial CG opens in June there is a dump Station. Site #17 was too tight to maneuver my 36' 5th wheel into. So we moved to #26, which was perfect. Lots of hilly hiking trails but not for beginners.

This is a well-run campground. The campsites are well maintained, and clearly marked for reservations and first-come, first-serve status.

Lack of water has been an issue for years. We will look forward to the time it is resolved.

This is a very peaceful campground located just a 10 minute drive from downtown Santa Fe. The surroundings are beautiful. The camp host was present as we pulled in and was attentive/helpful. I’m not sure why the water faucets located in the campground do not work. There is no ATT or Verizon cell service. If you are looking for a quiet, primitive campground (meaning no electricity or water), close to Santa Fe, this would be a great choice.

I arrived on Thursday evening, no campground host in sight but my spot was marked, so no big deal. I left the campsite around 11 30am next day, still no host. I returned around 5pm and host was there this time. The 2 restrooms that I used during the 2 day stay didn't appear to be cleaned at all and I had to go to the host to ask for toilet paper. It would appear that the campground hosts are there on part time bases. Nobody checked to make sure it was me in the spot I reserved. Other than that the campground is a wonderful place to spend few days exploring Santa Fe and surrounding areas.

Loved our stay - really nicely designed campsites for tent camping. It was below freezing at night in October, but great facilities and fire pits! Camp hosts were helpful in pointing out skunks in the area!
