What Guests Are Saying
Black Canyon Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and beautiful surroundings, making it a favored spot for campers. The spacious sites, friendly camp hosts, and proximity to hiking trails and Santa Fe enhance the overall experience. However, the lack of water has been a consistent issue, and some visitors have reported problems with caterpillar infestations and site accessibility.

Beautiful canyon - shady and collects the weather for cool and refreshing evenings. No cell phone service. Camp hosts are excellent and very kind.

One of my favorite parks. Very little road noise. Nice big paved sites with fire pits. I like the Black Canyon loop, but keeping going just a little further to a trail on the crest of the range. Great place to watch a sunrise or sunset.

Extremely rude host! I was at my campsite when she came up to me and was extrmely rude. I explained what I read on recreation.gov about arrivals and she said that it was not true. The campground has no internet or phone service so I was not able to verify what I knew I read was correct until I got home. After researching once again, the policy that she stated was on the web site is not and what I told her was. I also emailed recreation.gov to verify what I read. The Host needs to learn what the policy is on the time frame for a no show reservation The Host is not on site most of the time. The campground itself is pretty and quite. The road getting to the campground needs to have the bushes along the road trimmed seeing they hit the sides of your vehicle and the road is in bad shape along the edges.

Nice campground, quiet and lovely, with pines and aspens. We were close to the main road, but even there, the traffic noise wasn't too bad. Good shade, and our solar still refreshed the battery with no trouble each day.

This is a lovely campground. My site was beautiful but also busier than most because it is next to hiking trail

One of the most magical places to camp at. It was so quiet! Great shade and clean. Maybe not the best place to bring kids as it was difficult to stifle their excitement, but we managed to be respectful of the neighbors…hopefully!

Hosts were great and helpful. Wish there was water as its been a few years since the main broke. Lights in the bathrooms would be nice. Fixtures are there but bulbs burned out. Bathrooms and area neat and cleaned regularly. I’m a repeat customer.

Perfect location if you want to be in nature and yet close to Santa Fe. There are great hiking trails at Black Canyon and further up the mountain. The campsites have picnic tables and fire pits; they're fairly close to one another but there's still more than enough privacy from your neighbors. There is no internet service at Black Canyon unless you have Starlink. It's not really an issue if you want to hike or mountain bike, and explore downtown Santa Fe.
