I would highly recommend staying at this site. It’s elevation made camping so much more enjoyable than when I stayed at North Mills River last August albeit in a warmer month. Temps ranged between 48-53 and night and in the mid 60s during the day. Facilities were always clean and easily accessible. Limitations included only one shower at each bathroom so plan accordingly. There are trails accessible from the campground as well as nearby via car.

While leaving and stopping by the dump station, I noticed a camper rinsing their black water tank onto the pad at the dump station, mentioned it to the ranger/hosts, they said it was okay. Never heard of it being okay to dump black tank rinsings onto the pad but that is what they said. Then they said if a camper did not have a hose they could dump directly into the sewer drain, no hose needed. No thank you!
Parking spaces are at a premium as all the sites are small. That is okay if you abide by the rules but other campers were parking their vehicle on the side of the campground loop road, which was already tight anyway. Two vehicles max is what is shown but there were times with 4 vehicles and a trailer for the entire stay, nothing was said by the campground hosts that I am aware of.
While the scenery on the Blue Ridge Parkway is worth seeing, and the area near the campground has a lot to offer, I would never stay at this campground again.

This specific spot is small and cramped. The site smelled of urine and trash was scattered around.
