About Mount Pisgah Campground

One of the most popular of the Parkway's campgrounds, Mount Pisgah Campground is perched in the rolling mountains of western North Carolina on the southernmost end of the famous Blue Ridge Parkway. Surrounded by dense hardwood forests at an elevation of 4980 feet, it offers shady, cool respite from the summer heat. Whichever end of the day appeals, spectacular sunrise and sunset panoramic views can be enjoyed from nearby overlooks. Several popular hiking trails, ranging from moderate to strenuous, are accessible from the campground. Drenched in history, this area was once part of the holdings of George Vanderbilt and the site of his hunting camp house, Buck Springs (no longer standing), is close by.

Pros: Mostly quiet, hot showers, heated bathroom, friendly and helpful staff, drinking water pumps, good value. Cons: some campsites are really small, close together, and could use some maintenance. Probably a staffing and budget issue which is understandable. They take bear precautions very seriously which isn't a con, but more of an fyi. Tip: don't camp in the areas closest to the parkway if you can help it. You will hear traffic from the road.

Like this small campground on the mountain next to the Pisgah Inn. There are many hiking options and the view from the Inn is priceless. I was able to text msg from my phone (Verizon) but no social media in the campground (available near the campground check-in shack). No worries, I went up there to detach and chill.

Disappointed the ranger gave us a write up for condiments and garbage bag out when I was actively in the site. I was standing right there in the site when he attached the notice. Not sure why he would not just say something if he thought there was an issue.

Also there was a group that talked loudly all night and blared music after midnight Not cool. The group next to us left a day early. No wonder.

Good hikes in the area and the area overall is beautiful.

Wonderfully laid out campground. Too bad some don't follow the rules and secure their food and trash. Having showers is a plus and again, too bad people don't follow the rules.

Close to one of my favorite hikes (Graveyard Fields) and of course Pisgah National Forest - the views are amazing along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The site is peaceful, perfect for camping either with a family or solo. The showers/restrooms are clean and everyone is friendly. There's a store near by if you don't want to go into town - though it is definitely more expensive for the convenience. I love camping here and can't wait to come back.

We camp here a few times a year - very scenic views all along the Blueridge parkway and several great hiking trails within a short driving distance.
