About Cedar Point Campground

Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is located in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. It is within 1 mile of full service shopping, and within 2 miles of NC's Crystal Coast and the barrier island beach community of Bogue Banks. The campground is extremely busy and reservations are recommended but must be made 3 days in advance. Of the 36 campsites, 4 are considered first-come, first served campsites that cannot be reserved or held, so a person must physically be there with their camping equipment to purchase the campsite. Cedar Point campground has the option to use Scan & Pay system, but by the rules of recreation.gov it may only be used for first-come, first served sites. Please make sure to contact a campground host to ensure availability before paying for any campsite. Failure to check with the campground host for availability may result in the loss of your camping fee.

We wanted to "head to the beach" and the Cedar Point Campground seemed like the right place to stay. I reserved site A-23 and it provided plenty of space between our 25' motorhome and the other RVs in the park. While the campground only provides electricity there are plenty of water spickets around if you need them. There is a dump station and a potable water station near the exit from the park. I'd give the bathhouse a 4-star rating. The bathrooms were large and clean but the shower rooms needed some cobweb removal, so not a big deal. The showers themselves were very nice. Good water pressure and spray. To use the showers, you had to push the "on" button to turn the water on and it would last for maybe 30 seconds, sort of like a Navy shower. But a quick push of the button turned the water back on.

As for location, we were about 15 minutes to Emerald Isle Beach and even in early November we had temps in the low 70s so we sat on the beach watching the waves and surfers. There is also a short (1.9 mile) walking trail along the shore at the end of the road just 1/10 of a mile past the campground. It's a nice walk with some really great views of the surrounding waterways.

One tip is to stop and buy your firewood in the local area because there is no firewood available at the campground.

As for restaurants, we had dinner at T&W Oyster Bar and Restaurant. It's a low key, friendly kind of place with good food and a great staff.

We will definitely go back in the spring before the summer beach crowds arrive.

Very nice little campground. Well spaced sites, plenty of privacy, most with some/lots of shade. Restrooms and showers, while clean, are getting a bit long in the tooth and will soon need an upgrade. On our last visit there was no hot water in men's.restroom. Shower was ok though. Camp cat, friendliest feline ever.

5

Great campground. Sites are shaded, level and large. Great location for kayak fishing due to several local launch locations within a short drive. Have stayed here several times and will plan future trips.

Beautiful campground, easy to negotiate and spaced widely apart. We only used as a one night stay to visit friends that live on Emerald Isles. Would certainly stay here again when we come through.

Nice location. Close to Tidewater Trail. Also shopping and Emerald Isle resort area only 10 min away. Full electric service up to 50 amp to each RV site.
Not clear from reservation website that water not provided to individual RV sites. Common potable water station only.
Common bath facilities women’s restroom unusable due to clogged toilet and consequent flooding. Showers and men’s facilities in good working order however.

The campground seemed quite neglected this time. My electric box was leaning over, covered in garbage bags & duck tape. The fire pit was filled with ash, half-burned wood and a bag of garbage. Leaves and debris covered the entire site. In my opinion, highway noise and music from a local neighborhood, along with frequent military jet flyovers ruined the natural environment.

Small and very nice campground near Emerald Isle and the beaches. Secluded in the Croatan Forest and near the marsh. No more mosquitoes by the end of October. Clean bathrooms. Very nice host.

Very nice campground close to main beaches and fishing. Only improvement recommended is to fix the broken water faucets in the campground since there are no sites with water.
