Very nice NF Campground, a big step up from what we normally see for the Forest Service. You are close to some good dining out in Swansboro and a short drive out to Emerald Isle beaches.

Beautiful campsite and very clean. HOWEVER, after parking our camper and unhooking we realized that every spigot across the campsite had no taps! We were told that we should have filled up our fresh water tank by the dump station when we came in. First, there was no notification at all that we needed to do this. Secondly, the idea that should we need more water we would have to hook up our camper again and pull it to the dump station again is simply idiotic. Why in the world would you have spigots around the campground and show them on the campground map yet not be able to use them. Don’t you think that people would want to know that before committing to your campground. What a waste of a beautiful, well kept campground. We would honestly would be bragging about Cedar Point if not for the water situation. When you fix the water spigots to be used as they were intended for we’ll be back. But not before.

The campground was clean and spacious.
Unfortunately all the parts to all the area water hydrants had been removed making it very difficult to properly use them. Park staff suggested we go to the hardware store and purchase our own parts to adapt to the faucets. We made three trips and never did find the proper fit but did finally find something to get us by so we could get water in our holding tank. Not exactly how we had planned to spend our entire first afternoon.
Our site was also infested with fire ants. Otherwise it was all good.

Great Campground, large level sites nicely spread out for privacy. Well maintained. Lots of walking trails and a nice boat ramp for canoe/kayak access. Shopping and the barrier islands are only a few miles away.

Easy to get to and easy to park. The site was long enough that we didn’t unhook. Nice hiking close by.
