Ocracoke Campground offers a beautiful location just over the dunes from the ocean, with friendly staff and well-maintained facilities, including clean bathrooms. While the lack of hot showers and occasional weeds can be drawbacks, visitors appreciate the private sites and easy beach access. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The campground was clean and looked nice. You did get a sense that a lot of things needed repaired or replaced. The picnic table at our site had seat boards that were warped and split. The carriage bolts rusted away and the steel frame badly was rusted. At the dump station (which I only found by looking online at reviews that mentioned how hard it was to find) needs a new dump station lid. The existing one is broken.

Disappointed that beach area adjacent to campground now open to vehicles. At high tide dangerous conditions exist between walkers and fast moving vehicles. A very poor decision to open this segment of beaches diminishing and limiting our time on the beach. Number of vehicles parked on grass without enforcement of rule for all vehicles to be on pavement was also extremely disappointing. Rutted grass, massive RVs barely fit. Campground was really misused

It is a great place to camp. I was in generator-free zone in class c motorhome. Beach, dunes and waves are great! I look forward to returning.

We love Ocracoke and have been coming for years. This is the first year we noticed that the beach in front of the campground is opened to trucks (we usually come off season). The ORV access point is at the beginning of the campground and there was no room for campers on the beach because of the high volume of trucks. We'd like to recommend closing the beach in front of the campground to ORVs.
We'd also like to recommend quiet hours start earlier than 10pm. We were in loop d (no generators) but in the first spot so we were still next to a generator spot. We love falling asleep to the sound of the ocean.

A terrifically beautiful natural island setting a few miles from Hatteras. If you love the ocean, this is a wonderful place to stay. The campground was clean and well run. The hosts were the ones who deserve the credit. They are so nice and so accommodating. My car wouldn't start on my check-out morning. I let the hosts know and they helped me make sure I could stay another day. The part I needed was being sent overnight from California. Amazingly, FedEx delivered to the campsite. But the hosts were planning to go to the downtown Hatteras NPS office in case the package was delivered there. In my opinion, this was an above-and-beyond courtesy, and it certainly gave me peace of mind. I'm grateful for their calm helpful demeanor and they do a great job keeping the campground clean and running smoothly.
