What Guests Are Saying
Canebrake Horse Camp is praised for its cleanliness, polite camp host, and well-maintained campsites, making it a favorite for horse campers. Many enjoy the central location to trails and appreciate the quiet atmosphere. However, there are concerns about non-horse campers occupying sites, declining maintenance, and the need for more attentive camp hosting. Overall, it remains a beloved spot for equestrian camping despite some areas needing improvement.

Be aware the area for you to tie your horse may be covered in gravel.

I visit URE/Cane Brake 4 to 6 times per year for the last 10 years. The sites have improved in quality and cleanliness and the facilities are very good.

Canebrake is great as a horse camp. Love the host, tie out spots and shower houses. Very close to home and a great spot to take the horses for a quick weekend get away. Will continue to come there and camp with my horses.

Throughout the year the Uwharrie National Forest performs prescribed burns. Some of these burns will be next to and around this recreation facility and may cause smokey conditions during the actual burning and for the days following the burns. Sometimes we do not make a decision until the very morning that we will be able to do the burn due to weather and staffing. If you have questions about the prescribed burning possibility please call the Uwharrie National Forest Ranger District office at 910-576-6391 for updated information. |
