The long, winding road to the campground was well travelled and maintained. The campground sites are large and treed, with a beautiful creek nearby. The bathrooms were spacious and well lit. The dishwashing area was helpful. The historic church and buildings were charming. We saw so many elk! The fields and bridges over the creek were very picturesque. It was a great experience. Weβre so glad we stayed at Cataloochee campground.

Very clean and spacious campground. I will be back. Host was there to greet campers during peak arrival times. Very pleasant and knowledgeable and provided brochures and maps of the hiking trails in the park. Overall great experience.

We enjoyed our camping experience at Cataloochee campground. The facilities were clean, the camp hostess was very nice and informative. We were able to see Elk morning and evening and the hiking trails were maintained very well.
Our campsite was next to the creek and very relaxing.

From I-40 take Exit 20 in North Carolina. Turn right onto Cove Creek Road and follow to the Park boundary. The road goes from pavement to gravel to pavement. Upon reaching the pavement the second time, turn left. Go 2.5 miles to an intersection and continue another .5 miles to the left.
Cataloochee Campground is accessible via I-40, with Exit 20 providing the nearest access point. From the interstate, travelers can reach the campground by following Cove Creek Road to the park boundary.
