What Guests Are Saying
Washington Irving South offers a beautiful and peaceful campground with great views of the lake, clean facilities, and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciate the spacious sites, hiking trails, and proximity to Tulsa. However, some areas, particularly the restrooms and older sites, need maintenance and improvement, and there are concerns about sandburs affecting outdoor activities. Overall, guests express a desire to return despite some shortcomings.

We stayed 6 days at site 19. The site has water and electric and the restroom/showers are right across the street. There is plenty of wildlife to be seen, a hiking trail, boat ramp, boat dock, beach, and playground. The sewer dump is just outside the gate which is about 100 yards from #19. The campground is located near the state park, ancient forest, atv riding area, and everything in Tulsa. Site 19 has mature trees and a cement slab.

There should be something that warns it is not a place for kids to come. There were so many sandburs they couldn’t play outside on any part of the grass. They couldn’t go to the playground without getting stickers. Way too many sandburs and goat heads. The place was covered. Will not go back. It was a waste of our time. We could have just stayed in the trailer, parked at the house and had the same amount of camping time.

Great place to camp! We really loved being at this campground. There is a lot of space for each spot, the views of the lake are great, and the bathhouse is nice and kept clean too. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star is because when we arrived, the spot we originally reserved didn't have working power. Thankfully the campground was pretty empty and we found a spot that had working electricity and we moved our reservation to that spot. Number 19 needs to be fixed.

Easy on/off of Hwy 412. Far enough away to avoid road noise, but close enough for convenience.
