What Guests Are Saying
Washington Irving South offers a beautiful and peaceful campground with great views of the lake, clean facilities, and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciate the spacious sites, hiking trails, and proximity to Tulsa. However, some areas, particularly the restrooms and older sites, need maintenance and improvement, and there are concerns about sandburs affecting outdoor activities. Overall, guests express a desire to return despite some shortcomings.

If you have a big rig, site #3 is not for you. It Is long but very sloped and hard to back in up hill and through ruts and grass. Could get almost level with extreme air leveling but the front entrance step was like 2 feet off the ground. No shade until late in the day, 30A. Not ideal...

It was very nice and I had a good stay there. I was disappointed that there were no covers over the picnic tables, which made everything wet when it rained. The bathroom and shower were in one unit, so the toilet floor was wet from people taking showers around the corner. There also was no soap dispenser in the bathroom. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. They had a lot of pull through sites, which is also another nice feature. Beautiful views of the lake.

We stay at Washington Irving every year for a week while visiting family in the area and we really enjoy it. Most campsites are fairly level, and most campsites have shade but you really need to read the site description. The bath house is old and in need of repairs but it has plenty of hot water. This is the first time I have a complaint about the person working there. He only cleaned and restocked the bathroom once the entirety of the week and only on the weekends did he unlock all but two of the bathroom doors. He complained about being there every time we saw him and was in general a very disgruntled person

Despite the water too high to rent boats and too dangerous to swim we did cautiously take our kayaks out and enjoyed some paddling back in the coves. Our camp director was delightful and when there was a mess left by campers next to us he was on it right away to solve the problem and try to find the people who left such a disgusting mess. I did help him clean up because it was just the right thing to do.

Lovely campground, well kept for and restrooms, while they could use an update, were clean.
