What Guests Are Saying
Washington Irving South offers a beautiful and peaceful campground with great views of the lake, clean facilities, and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciate the spacious sites, hiking trails, and proximity to Tulsa. However, some areas, particularly the restrooms and older sites, need maintenance and improvement, and there are concerns about sandburs affecting outdoor activities. Overall, guests express a desire to return despite some shortcomings.

Bathrooms ../.no words can describe the conditions they were in. We were there 7 nights. They were never cleaned. They made there to add toilet paper one time because the ranger made a call. Trash pickup was only picked twice after being asked to. They were doing grass and trim work on a Saturday evening.

We camped in #9 - it was clean and peaceful. Loved having the woods close to us. Only con I would say is campsites are pretty close together - we prefer more secluded spots.

We absolutely Love Washington Irving South! Newly renovated campsites down on the lower end, well maintained with attendant on duty in the entrance shack during peak hours. Quiet times observed and never had an issue here. We stay here multiple times a year just to get away from the house.

The young man in the gatehouse is always friendly and pleasant. We stayed in campsite 19...it is brand new and nice however it is 4" off level. The picnic table tilts downhill as does the parking pad. The boat ramp is real bad and out of water...not usable for many boats including ours. The lawn crew cutting grass through a rock that just missed my right eye by inches. I did report that to Rick the ranger who stated he would call in the incident....thanks Rick.

The park has really gone downhill, our whole campsite was covered in sandburs. We came off the lake Saturday afternoon and the people who had the site next to us had their tent literally set up right behind our RV, we had to ask them to move to their site, there was no one attending the gate. We did not see a park ranger or a park employee come around the whole time we were there. We watched the "cleaning ladies" clean a campsite that was quite a joke! Very disappointed in the park 😒

We’ve stayed at Washington Irving 3 years in a row while visiting family in the area. You have to be careful which site you register for as not all of them are level enough for big rigs and the bathrooms could use an update but all in all it is a really nice place to camp for an extended stay.

This spot was a nightmare to back into and we could not get the camper level at all. It was so sloped there was no way to get the nose up high enough with our Jack's and a smaller camper shouldn't have that issue. The area was washed out from rain. It's a long walk to the swimming area from the camping area.
