What Guests Are Saying
Aspen Point at Lake of the Woods offers a beautiful and well-maintained campground with spacious, private sites, excellent lake access, and friendly hosts. Many visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity for outdoor activities, such as biking and kayaking. However, there are consistent complaints about the outdated and poorly maintained restroom facilities, as well as noise issues during peak times, which detracts from the overall experience.

Beautiful spot. Ruined by inconsiderate humans who don’t really want to be in nature, they just want noise.

At Aspen, below campsite 41, tree mess needs to be cleaned up and levels out. Hazard walking with boards, kayaks, etc.

We stayed in site 55. Sites mostly have amenities to the rear, so fire ring, picnic table will be behind your RV. The campground was noisy with a lot of traffic. Lots of garbage cans, and water spigots, which is appreciated. Dryers didn't work in bathroom on campground side of day use. Bathrooms were functional but need some TLC.
Quiet time was a suggestion, as the large party below us went until after midnight. Just posting to let others know what to expect.
Bring wood. Bundles are small, $8 and they weren't seasoned. Very smokey when you could get the wood to burn.

Campsite was great. Cleaned up very nicely from the winter storms. Early morning sun with afternoon shade. Solar panels would work great there. Site was a short was to the restrooms with were cleaned regularly with bleach. Had a few deer walk through the site in the middle of the night. Quite peaceful. Highly recommend it.

The only issue we had was the toilet paper not getting refilled, luckily we took toilet paper with us every time we went.

Aspen is our favorite place to camp. It’s beautiful. The host was wonderful! Only drawback this time was the pine pollen! But that’s mother natures fault. Next time I’ll be better prepared.

We had an excellent experience here. It all started by being greeted by Mark and the professionalism shown by him as well as all the other folks working with him to make our stay wonderful. Having never stayed here before, knowing that there would be no hookups I had hoped for solar to play a large role. This was not to be as this is a densely wooded area and received very limited sun exposure. Fortunately we had thought ahead and filled the diesel tank for the generator. Charging approximately 2 hours a day was sufficient to keep everything operational.
Another advantage or dis-advantage was the isolation, 0% Cell phone service/internet service. The only service that was available was when we were close to a town and out of the dense forest. We spent three days learning to live the old way. LOL It was nice to get away from the electronics for a few days and actually communicate with each other.
Deer wandering through the campsite daily as well as many other species of wildlife, was a refreshing/enjoyable distraction. We did have one un-solicited visitor that had to evicted, a large deer mouse loved the dogs food. This has been a recurring issue everywhere we have been this year and so we are now packing several traps to help control the squatting on our properties.
Aspen Point Campground on Lake of the Woods was the perfect staging ground for Crater Lake as well as other waterfalls and many lakes in the area. If you have not been to Crater Lake it is a must add to your Bucket List. Pictures do not serve up the Magnificent beauty that you will experience. As you approach the lake for the first time be sure to take a deep breath and try to hold on as it will quickly be stolen away as you summit the first climb that will afford you your first view of this spectacular wonder. The depth and color will leave you momentarily speechless and you will swear your seeing a mirage as nothing could be this beautiful.
Happy trails until our next review.
