Hosts Hazel and Joe made it a very nice experience. Have never seen the lake this full...had Thunderstorms but who cared...it was Lake of the Woods...be back soon.

Park hosts (Carol and hubby) maintain a very clean park. My husband came back to our trailer and asked me if I had seen the park restrooms. I said no. My husband said they were “really ridiculously clean!” We loved the spacious sites.

Lake of the Woods and Sunset campground are my happy place. Love everything about it. What I truly dislike is the recreation.gov website and the fact that I have to "fight" 6 months ahead of my trip to get a reservation site. I am on as soon as they open, 6 am my time, and hit the button right on time. I rarely if ever get the site or dates I want. I know camping has become popular but something has to be done on the website to make it fair.

We camped at the Sunset Campground, we stay there a couple of times a year, we really like the campground, the hosts & being able to put our chairs on the boundry of the lake & watch all the activity on the lake!!! Hoping someday they will add a shower!!!

Sunset was a really nice clean camp which had plenty of sites capable of parking our 35ft 5th wheel and Dodge 3500 Truck and accomidated the road clearance needed when backing in. The sites are spaced out very well.
However there are no dump facilities at Sunset, even for Gray water despite the rest rooms having sewer. While visiting the Aspen campground (which does have a dump station) I inadvertently drove over a short post I could not see and destroyed my steering stabilizer. It was near the information kiosk. I was looking at the sign and rolled forward a bit. I strongly recommend that if guide posts are installed for any reason they meet bumper height requirement of 16 to 20 inches, or be curb height. In front of the sign they serve no purpose.
