What Guests Are Saying
Ivan Oakes Campground features friendly and accommodating camp hosts, well-maintained and spacious campsites, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great spot for activities like kayaking and fishing. While the campground offers beautiful scenery and cleanliness, some visitors noted issues with trash left by previous campers and the presence of poison oak. Overall, it's a highly recommended destination for those seeking a relaxing outdoor experience, despite minor drawbacks.

We were swarmed by bees the WHOLE time. We couldn’t pull out food without having bees on everything. One of our dogs was stung twice and I was stung once. I’m surprised we didn’t have more stings. We did have a spot that was semi private from the other sites, which was nice. The reservoir was so low that there wasn’t a good place to get our paddle boards in.

We were at campground 3. Decently private and not very much room but private to say the least . Giving it a three star rating because we had to set up our tent on rocks instead of dirt and the bees were horrible during the day. We all got stung and so did the dog in his mouth. The campground does not appear on maps but just follow the road going to Ivan Oakes park and it will be there . There will be winding roads then a gravel rock road and from there you’ll see the signs. I would not go back but it was okay.

This is a lovely spot!! Quiet, not too crowded, and friendly host. The campground itself was very nice, as was my site (22), but this site had one main issue…so many hornets!! I saw a traps hung around nearby sites, but mine didn’t have any and could definitely use some. It was definitely a buggy experience overall - I was glad I was some bug spray! Only other note is that this site was extremely close to its neighboring sites, without many trees or anything to make it feel at all private. Luckily for me, no one was in those spots directly next to me for the night I was there.

The campsite itself was fantastic, we enjoyed camping here. However, there were wasps swarming us every day. We could only cook at night, due to the constant amount of wasps. We also had to eat in our tents or cars during the day to avoid them trying to eat our food. That was the only problem that we had, but it happened to be a big one.
