Would have rated this higher if the mosquitoes weren’t so aggressive this year! Come prepared for lots of bug bites! But the water was what we came here for. Paddle boarding was amazing. Would highly recommend this campground and Waldo lake!

Positives: We absolutely loved the lake. It was breath taking. We moved from Lake Tahoe and this is closest we have found to compare to the clear beautiful water from home. We will be going back as often as possible.
*Bathrooms were immaculate! Cleanest vault toilets I have ever seen. Just make sure to take light at night, they are super dark, even during the day they are quite dim.
Negatives: CAMP host didn't seem very welcoming. My advice, "buy your firewood before you go."
*The water faucet next to our camp site 48 was broken and we had to walk quite a ways to get water.
* Last***MOSQUITOS*** Take plenty of high deet bug spray. Also lots of camp site repellents like candles, incense, bug zapper, ect. Worst mosquito problem we ever dealt with camping. We thought we were prepared. We ended up driving down to get more mosquito repelling supplies.
Overall good experience and will definitely go again. Next time with way more deet and citronella.

We had a wonderful visit to Waldo Lake, the experience staying as Islet was fantastic and the campgrounds were kept immaculate. Bring lots of mosquito spray as they are pretty fierce in July.

Disappointed with camp host. Her dog ran loose throughout the grounds. Growling and following me as I walked my dog. Her dog even ran into my camp forcing me to lock my dog in the car for her safety. HOWEVER waldo lake is incredible a must see.

The smoke was pretty thick, but the Lake was nice and it wasn’t as busy as usual.

Islet has the best camp host we've ever had! Staci was helpful and kind. We have been camping at Waldo Lake ever since a road was built to it's amazing shore! The campground was cleaner than we've ever seen it before. Thank you so much also for the amazing dog visit with Tripper McNabb, a very obedient and kind pooch.

There were dogs running off leash throughout the campground even though the camp host continued to tell people to keep their dogs on leash, per campground rules. One dog pooped in my campsite while it was wandering through, and I had to clean it up. There were large groups of loud, rude people. This campsite has gone down hill ever since they changed from all first come first served to mostly reserved sites.

Been to
Islet several times- Waldo is great of course but I wanted to thank our camp host particularly: I’ve seen some bad pit toilets this year but Stacy was very attentive to these- clean, stocked and smelled great! She had buckets of “secret sauce”! Our site was right next door and never a problem. She was great managing site changes, added visitors etc.
