What Guests Are Saying
Driftwood campground offers great access to the dunes and features friendly and helpful camp hosts, enhancing the overall experience for visitors. While the campground is popular and well-loved by many for its atmosphere and recreational opportunities, some reviews highlight concerns about maintenance, particularly regarding bathroom facilities and limited shower hours. Despite these issues, many campers express a desire to return, appreciating the beautiful surroundings and the camaraderie found among fellow outdoor enthusiasts.

Our stay at driftwood was great until the last weekend. Thief’s came into the campground and stole $1800 in generators, gas cans ,batteries and crabbing items.
We were told it was the 13 th day in a row for thefts. Something needs to be done (patrols or lock the main gate at 10 pm) . If nothing is done to stop the thieves, something bad is going to happen.

Spots are super small and close together , and Saturday night thief's came in to the camp ground cut our cable locking everything up took off with 2 full gas cans and all the alcohol. Several other camps were also hit, it’s a known issue happening almost every weekend but nothing is being done about it!

There was an RV that ran the generator all night. It was noisy and the camp host or forest service should have patrolled and informed them of the quiet time after 10 pm

It has always been just a parking lot, but we have dealt with it because of the dune access, but now with the amount of theft it's even less enjoyable and nerve wracking. The story going around is a group of homeless have been coming in every night since April stealing generators, propane, gas, ice chests, kids toys...even when locked up. (Wouldn't it be easy to find these "homeless" they would have a wall of ice chests by now!) I'm not sure who is responsible but it is making it an unsafe atmosphere with no intervention from the local, state, or federal personnel. I would say I am surprised that no one has intervened but then again they cant even take care of decaying picnic tables, fire pits and disgusting bathrooms and those are very basic issues. If you want to see how your tax money and fees are being mismanaged and rolling the dice on your safety you will enjoy staying here, but we will be reconsidering coming here for our family vacation until they get these issues under control because I am afraid it's only a matter of time before there is an serious incident.

The camp hosts were great and super nice. However, the homeless community came in and stole all of our coolers. We've camped there for years and never had an issue until now. Apparently this is the new normal for this area. The camp hosts hand are tied on what they can do. They gave us incident reports to fill out.

We love to go every year with our friends. But it is getting tougher to get all of our sites together.
