About Pioneer Ford Campground

Pioneer Ford is one of the most popular of the campgrounds in the area since many of the sites are well suited to RVs and most of the sites are mostly private, shaded amongst a mixture of pine and cedar trees. As you travel north away from the first in a series of Metolius-area campgrounds and Camp Sherman, the facilities become more and more isolated which is why Pioneer Ford can be so quiet. Located on the Metolius River, this campground provides access to fishing and hiking trails.

What Guests Are Saying

Pioneer Ford Campground is a beautiful, peaceful site with great river access, clean facilities, and respectful guests. Campers appreciate the large, private sites, gorgeous hiking trails, and the serene atmosphere, especially mid-week. While there are occasional issues with water availability and privacy between sites, the friendly camp host and natural surroundings make it a favorite destination for relaxation and fishing.

The best of the campgrounds in the Metolius area, and the camp host was very nice!

The camp was beautiful and quiet. The temperature was very hot so grateful for the river. The camp host was excellent. The toilets were way too full and smelled a great distance.

Just an outstanding campground. Best one in Camp Sherman, hands down. Lower Bridge is also very good but Pioneer has more privacy and better campsites. I really don't like Allen Springs at all. If you're going camping up here, Pioneer is the preferred campground, in my opinion. Get campsite #5 and you'll have all the privacy and space you could want! Great experience.

Quiet, shady, large campground. Lack privacy between sites. Great for tent camping. Riverside but river is not accessible for swimming. Fallen logs create a few places to get your feet wet.

Now that all the sites are reservable it was sad to see people not show up and hold a site for several days, when locals were wanting to camp….The program needs to change in some way to stop this from happening it’s not fair
