I've been going to Shanagoo for yrs. This year was a bit different due to Covid no bathroom they were portapottys. But they were well maintained and the showers were also portable. This is a family oriented place I think they need 2 start having fireworks or something going on for the 4th of July weekend ..

The camp hosts were next to us taking up 1/4 of the site with their club car and almost hit our chairs trying to back out on our site. . Not friendly and had poop RV containers filled with flys and maggots on it.
Bathroom were closed and it was hard to find a shower.
No real dump station just a sewer hole that was fallen in the sand bags around it.

I recently had 2 different stays at Shenango; my first was terrible because I was not informed that half the campground was shut down. No toilets, no showers and the swim areas was on the shut down side of the campground. I did not take anything for my child to do because I was going to let him swim at the inlet on the beach. Wast of my time and my money. Overall terrible experience!! How was this not communicated? I felt I should have been reimbursed!
Second trip I knew there were no restrooms or showers or swim beach so I took my boat and bicycles and had a great time.

Stay away from Shenango Rec Area at this time if you have a small camper with limited holding tanks. Because of what I believe is poor management and planning of the road upgrade, the restrooms are closed and porta Johns and make shift showers must be used. Although I've recently heard that the make shift "dump station" has been altered it is still not conveniently positioned for smaller units and is very difficult to dump the black and gray water. We have been cancelled out of our reservations for Memorial Day weekend and Fourth of July, also! The way it looks at present, our Labor Day weekend reservation will most likely be cancelled as well! Because of this, we were able to make reservations at Pymatuning State Park Ohio over July 4th and Labor Day as well! We like it better and will now make it our go to place to camp from now on! It's sad because we've camped since it opened!

Paid full price to stay at a non electric site to only find out after we arrived and set up that none of the facilities are working properly.
