Avoid Cove sites in rainy weather due to mudslides. Also if sewer hookups matter, reserve Bench area sites. The views of Cowanesque Lake is terrific.

Always enjoy going to Thompkins Campground. We go there at least two times a year. The only problem we have while there is that we have a hard time receiving communications on our phone. As soon as we get back on the main road we get reception.

The sites are nice and spacious but are hard to reserve since they fill up so fast. However, while camping, we noticed several sites, both at Ives Run and Tompkins Cowanesque, remained empty due to no-shows. Please, fellow campers, if you are unable to keep your reservation(s), please cancel in a reasonable amount of time so other campers can take advantage of a nice camp site. Also, please be very careful when camping at these locations due to the rattlesnakes. They do not mow the grass as often as they should and no longer mow as much of an area as they used to...especially at Ives Run. This is a very nice campground but being long time patrons, we have seen the park get worse on ground maintenance. The Park Rangers and most Camp Hosts are very friendly.

Our most recent visit to Tompkins was the best yet. We had a lakeside camping site which also provided us a place to tie our boat. It was relaxing, quiet, and convenient.

What a peaceful and calm place to visit. We loved paddling on the lake. One of the days we paddled a ways up the lake and had lunch at concession stand. The food was wonderful and the small ice cream cone was huge.

Full hookup site near the water was one of the best we have visited.

Having a campsite on the water was great. Good lake for kayaking. It would be nice if all bathrooms included showers. We enjoyed a fun side trip to Pine Creek bike path.

I’m from New York and this was an amazing get away from the city. The other campers are respectful and the grounds are taken care of beautifully, they are kid friendly and relaxing. I am thinking of setting up another trip, this time without my children and husband and just my sister-in -law and myself.
