A wonderful campsite. Loved all the trees and it was a much shorter walk to my car. Can't wait to stay here again

We enjoyed our stay at long leaf campground. Wish there was running water there, but it's easy enough to get water down at the visitor center. Loved the shade and ease of finding kindling on the ground for a fire.

Nice facilities. Pleasantly empty (in January). Several elk in the closed camp areas in the morning and the south of the river was great to sleep to.

I enjoy camping in walk in sites. However, the name of this campground is at best, aspirational. There are only mature loblolly pines, no longleaf. Longleaf pines have been planted, especially in the field between the campground and group site, but they are still very young. It would have been nice to have had closer water access.

Site 10 was the best! Perfectly situated away from the parking area with plenty of space for my backpacking tent! Because the overnight temperature fell into the mid-teens, it was a bonus to have a fire ring that I put to good use.
