The Woods Ferry Recreation Area is situated in the piedmont of South Carolina along the east bank of the Broad River with elevation averaging around 350 feet and is approximately 40 miles southwest of Rock Hill and 57 miles southeast of Spartanburg. The surrounding area is the rolling hills of upland pine and maturing hardwood forests. It offers a wonderful change is scenery from the area’s typical pine forests. It would have gotten 5 stars as the campsite was wonderful, but a big camper pulled in a couple of sites over and ran a very loud generator for over an hour and that really messed up the peace and quiet of the woods.

Upper camp grounds are in good condition.
The Lower ones were under water. The pavilions, walk ways, and campsites,, all underwater from the river being released. The next day lower grounds were not underwater. I was amazed how much water receded... But the grounds were covered in mud.
River is to dangerous for non motorized boating and kayaking. I also didn't think it was fishable, it was a murky brown, fast flowing.
Restrooms and spigot water was nice to have.

The trails are GORGEOUS and the volunteers do a phenomenal job maintaining trails. They are some of the best marked trails I've ridden. The single sites are in good condition. The group site is a mess. There is not a level area for a trailer camper, much less 4 of them. All of the corrals are so mucky and 4 of the 6 are damaged and dangerous (exposed nails and screws/bolts). If you are booking the group site, bring a high tie system.

Camp areas were very good. The road around camp needs some attention where it has washed out.
