The noise level from AC units and generators is not our idea of a National Park experience. Quiet time was not enforced either :-(

We camped at the Cedar Pass Campground, and you can’t beat the excellent location inside the park. Be prepared with your leveling blocks (some sites are very uneven/sloped), and expect no privacy, as the sites are basically all along the campground loop road, and the grassy areas don’t have trees for privacy. Some sites might be muddy.
Some spots are electric, some not. Flush toilets. Coin showers. Picnic table with shade cover. No fires. Nice big outdoor dishwashing sink.
The water fountains didn’t seem to work, but the visitor’s center is close and has water refill fountains inside.
There was LOTS of wind, but hardly any bugs. The first night, we had a non electric site, second night electric. It was June. Mornings were cool, then hot in the afternoons. We saw bison, hiked several trails (highly recommend the Notch trail), and went to a fossil presentation.
This park is great if you have little kids who like to climb and/or look for fossils. In many parts, you don’t have to stay on trails, but you do have to look out for rattlesnakes.

Although the views from the campground and the surrounding scenic drives were incredible, the campground was full of flies and made it impossible to be outside because of them. I was fortunate enough to have a camper trailer and electricity so that I could be inside during my 2 day stay. This was not ideal, as I going camping to be outside with nature. I am an experienced camper and have never come across a situation this uncomfortable. The garbage should not be in close proximity to the campers and needs to be placed well away from campers. A short walk to dispose of garbage is a small inconvenience to the price we paid for dealing with all the flies. Please consider this request for future campers. I will not be back.

This is a good campground. The spaces are a little closer together than I would have preferred but it's still a good location with good facilities: there are showers for a cost as well which is nice.

Hot hot hot! Plan on early rising for hiking, biking and then touring in a vehicle to get thru the heat of the day. Never stayed in a campsite like this. Campers/Vans/RVs set up on the circle drive road. Tents can be on the grass. So windy and no shade anywhere. Couple miles away in Interior, SD is Cowboy Corner a small gas station/grocery/restaurant that saved us for some fruit, basic grocery items and ice! Do Notches, Door, & Window Hikes. Good way to beat the heat is a visit to Wall Drug. Nice amphitheater at the park by the campsite for Ranger led programming!
