What Guests Are Saying
Lock A campground is highly praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. The spacious campsites, beautiful views of the Cumberland River, and opportunities for biking and relaxing are significant highlights. While some facilities, like the bathrooms, are noted as outdated and in need of upgrades, the overall experience is positive, with many guests eager to return.

Lock A is one of our all-time favorite campgrounds. The sites are roomy, mostly flat and always clean. The campground sits right next to the Cumberland River, so even if you don't have a site on the water you can easily see it from where you are. Barges go up and down the river as the lock is not far away. The campground is not large and has a real family atmosphere.
I highly recommend this campground to anyone!

Well-kept campground. Very popular with locals & full on weekends. We had a1-wk reservation. Sites along river are very large & have a lovely view. Campground is full of mature, lovely trees. Staff was friendly. Nice hike/bike trail (Millenium) has its west terminus in Campground. An unmarked short trail leads up to the overlooking bluff - no view of water. There are ruins atop the bluff - maybe an abandoned tower foundation & service building. But no signage on the trail to bluff. Nice 2-mile bike ride to Dam/lock to the west.

Had a shared driveway which was a bit more difficult to back into as a newbie, but the site and the campground were both terrific! Beautiful water views, several great hiking options, clean bathrooms, and multiple playgrounds for the kiddos. Highly recommend!

This has to be the cleanest and have the most room camping that I have been to. The host is very nice and is like family. Can’t wait to go back.
