What Guests Are Saying
Chilhowee Campground is praised for its beautiful natural setting, well-maintained facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a favorite for repeat visitors. The campground features clean bathrooms, spacious sites, and a lovely lake for swimming, along with access to hiking trails, including the popular Benton Falls. While the access road is narrow and winding, and some areas may appear dated, the overall experience is highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful camping getaway.

It was really a beautiful and remote area. My only criticism would be that it should be made clearer that there is no individual campsite access to fresh water. We were close enough to the central water source that we could refill our tank sort of conveniently, but others weren't so fortunate. It would help to make it more of a point of emphasis to the potential campers before reserving.

Very nice campground with clean facilities. Tent camped the last weekend they were open and it was beautiful. Can't wait to go back during swim season.

We had a good time at the campground. Thankfully, the road was paved up to the campground. We took Oswald Road from 64 and, though it was steep and narrow, our little Hyundai made it up the mountain just fine. Some of our neighbors were loud during the day, but everyone observed quiet hours and we were able to sleep well. The camp host rode around on their golf cart a few times, but left us alone, which I prefer. The bathrooms were fine- there was hot water. We hiked to Benton Falls one day and it was a lovely experience. Overall, we had a nice time. Recommend!

I get it. The campground host position does not pay anything other then a free site and full hook-ups, and you cannot expect these folks to kill themselves for that. But man, I am glad having an RV, I do not have to rely on the restroom and shower facilities. The few times I went in the restroom I seen it was in serious need of a deep cleaning, or any cleaning for that matter. My wife and I love Chilhowee campground but would love to see some of the potholes repaired on the road up there, I lost a strut a couple of summers ago hitting one. Maybe a complete repaving?

Beautiful and secluded campground with spectacular views. We stayed in loop A. The only issue we had was the camp hosts dog barked constantly.

Was the last week for camping as the season closes in on us. The first two days was very nice as it was empty till Friday. It was still nice just very peaceful. Love the trails very easy to maneuver. A beautiful lake to stroll around in the morning. The facilities were well kept and trash was picked up daily. Definitely will stay again.
