What Guests Are Saying
Chilhowee Campground is praised for its beautiful natural setting, well-maintained facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a favorite for repeat visitors. The campground features clean bathrooms, spacious sites, and a lovely lake for swimming, along with access to hiking trails, including the popular Benton Falls. While the access road is narrow and winding, and some areas may appear dated, the overall experience is highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful camping getaway.

Pros: inexpensive, gorgeous views, lots of trails to hike very close to the campsite, not too far from town of you have a 4wd (you can take the shorter gravel road), friendly and helpful camp hosts
Cons:
- Bathrooms! The showers were filled with dead bugs and mold. The water lasts literally 5 seconds each press of the button. Not 30 seconds, 5.
- Dump station requires a ~very~ sharp turn to access.
FYSA - there is no water hookup. There are wells scattered around.

The showers in loop f were out of order and appeared to be out of order for a while. There were atleast 3 yellow jackets nest within 15 ft of our site and my son got stung. The grill at our site was about to fall off and our neighbors across the street had broken off. I won't be back till that start maintaining the sites and bathrooms better

I love this campground and always stay in the same spot. It is so perfect for our family camping / get togethers. The only reason it was not an excellent stay this time - the camp spots were a bit dirty this time.

Very nice rural park/campsite. Many well marked trails and beautiful waterfall. Does take a while to drive the 7 miles up the mountain to the park, but well worth the drive.

The site is large and very private with lots of forrest around it. There's only two downsides to it. It's a good distance from the bathhouse and there's a significant incline backing into the site. The transmission on my truck began overheating while trying to park the camper.

Emily the host was awesome, everything clean and she was very helpful about local activities. Hiking right from the campground and whitewater rafting the Ocoee were great.

The campground is no longer well kept. We have been going to Chilhowee for over 30 years. The grass is high near the campsites. Had a snake at the bathroom one morning. The beach at the lake is horrible. Steps going down are dangerous and there is gullies on the sand as well as grass growing nearer the water. A real shame since we pay 2 times what we used to

Pros: Quiet and peaceful! Clean and private! Cons: Camp management never came to acknowledge we were there, nor offered a parking pass for the lake area! Previous management was very friendly and helpful! We never received maps of the hiking trails this year! Hopefully someone will see this and step up the management of Chilhowee Campground!
I still recommend this campground.
