About Live Oak Ridge

Live Oak Ridge campground is located at Belton Lake close by the dam and the city of Belton. This year-round, family friendly campground accommodates both tents and RVs and has many amenities, such as a playground, water-bourne restrooms with sinks, flush toilets, and showers, and an activity center. Belton Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Belton Dam in 1954. The 12,300-acre lake is located on the Leon River, just upstream of the confluence of the Leon River and the Little River. Belton Lake is a long, narrow and winding lake with many curves and coves, providing some of the best camping, fishing, and boating in Central Texas.

I was offended by the religious emblems and desecrated versions of the US flag that is the first thing a guest sees when entering. The campground hosts have turned this public park into their version of a denominational summer camp. Public parks should be welcoming to all people, the host’s decorations should reflect this.

The park looks great! All cleaned up from last year. Got rid of a bunch of dead oak. Only thing that hasn’t changed…the camp hosts. They are amazing🙋🏻‍♂️

Having stayed at Live Oak Ridge several times in the past, I was saddened to find there was no one tending the gate, the rest rooms were only tended once a week (men’s restroom was without T/P for several days), the 3 host were lethargic, the campsites were ignored when campers left (in the past campsites were groomed for new arrivals) and the hosts residence were excessive with temporary storage buildings, automobiles and motorcycles. Overheard many referring to them as a Gypsy Camp…

We frequented area walking paths and trails. There are many to choose from. Laundromat in Temple was fantastic.

The best park we enjoy camping at. Well maintained by volunteers who do a fabulous job day in and day out. Thank you to the three volunteer families at Live Oak, keep up the great work!

One of the two rest room had been closed since March -made it difficult because you had to walk to the other side of the camp area to use the restroom. Site had very large amounts of cut down trees and grass was very high but the three Camp host sites up front were neat and tidy had water sprinklers going.
Water Spicket was bent or broken all most touched the ground and you couldn’t get anything underneath it hardly to get water.
Even though I arrived at 3:30 in the afternoon to check in there was nobody at the gate and as I drove to my site after I open the gate the guy on a scooter flagged us down to check us in.
Grills at that site that we stayed in # 30 and the next site to us had bigger holes in the bottom that had charcoal falling out when cooking

Love the trees at the campsite. There is no real water access to walk down from the camp sights, but the boat launch is nice. Camp hosts made the rounds regularly and were friendly. Things were nice and quiet during quiet hours, and really the whole time. One of the 2 sets of restrooms were “closed until roads are repaved” which replacing hasn’t even begun. The only set of opened restrooms, had no tp, toilets were clogged or locked with no one in them. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would go back. Bring your own soap for hand washing.
