Oh dear Potter's Creek. Lovely large sites. Shaded options, clean bathrooms ( best in 4 weeks of camping in Texas), pleasant hiking BUT that close & lock the gate at 9? Really need to figure that one out. I carried on to the next ACOE Campground and they just had a code on the gate so you come in at any time of night, please just lock the gate behind you. It wouldn't normally be a problem, I like to be home by dark. But I came to the Hill Country to enjoy some of the Christmas festivities including Christmas parades in San Antonio and fredericksburg. Both of which I had to rush back to make the gate closing. And I get it that's the way you do it there. But there's no need for your staff to be so prickly about it.

our stay was unique. We were by ourselves most of the time. We did see deer. We had 2 or 3 neighbors that left and then we were alone. The park is huge and at one time had to have been beautiful. We did find an area to get into the lake by following voices of a couple of families to the water. We sat on the rocks in the water just for a bit. We enjoyed the shoreline from our campsite as well as while we were driving around the lake. Would we go back? yes. It does need some tender loving care

As always the staff are friendly and helpful. Sites are clean and safe. Views are spectacular. Deer and Foxes. Rabbits and Turkeys friendly camp hosts who will come and sit next to your fire and enjoy your company if you are quiet and nice to them.

It was a shame to see the lake so low, and a full burn ban in place but that is nobodies fault.
This is a great park, with great spots, well spaced from each other so you are not feeling cramped and pets are welcomed. The bathrooms were sufficient but could do with some updating. The wildlife is abundant, so take care when driving or walking, lots of deer etc. Some spots have shade, some do not, and only some of the spots have photos on the site, all sites appear to have been leveled and sealed with asphalt, with gravel on the picnic area.
The staff were mostly helpful but not really personable, several other campers commented to us about the staff attitude too, so it wasn't just us.
Despite the water levels being low, this is still a very scenic park and loads of things to see and do in the area, well worth a visit.

Love ,love, love potters creek, my hubbys family goes there for the week of thanksgiving every year but the only things that could make it better is a heater in bathrooms when its cold and non slip tread on the shower floors..and grab bars on the walls the floors are very slick n its just a matter of time before someone slips n falls especially for those of us who are handicapped...and hotter water....other than that love our time there every year

It was our first time to visit this beautiful park, and we plan to return. Although some of the campgrounds are rather bare, the shelter area is actually quite attractive and the shelters are well designed and built, if rather small, but the indoor sink is a plus. The bathhouse is excellent. Though we weren't allowed to use the fire ring, the covered standing grill was in fine condition and worked well. We liked the fact that there are several very bikeable, low-traffic roads near the park, and we made good use of those. We observed that there are usable trails within the park, although we didn't really use them; it would be terrific if someone would create a map of them and post that near the entrance. The only negative to the whole visit was a leak in the roof of the shelter, which inspired us to leave earlier than planned. Otherwise, I would have given five stars.
