What Guests Are Saying
Potters Creek Park is a beautiful and well-maintained campground with large, spacious sites and clean facilities, including highly praised bathrooms and showers. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff and the park's scenic views, making it a great spot for camping and exploring the Hill Country. While some areas of the park lack shade and the lake levels are low, overall experiences have been positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Reason for low rating is the idiotic rule no entry before 3pm even when the site is unoccupied. Check out is 2pm. We arrived at approx 2:30.. There were 2 campers in front of us and 3 came after. We were let in at 3pm. Point of info no rv left the camp ground from the time we arrived till we were let in so all the sites were unoccupied.
On a positive note the first time we encountered the 3pm rule we were told the rv had to be moved off of COE property and to come back after 3pm.
We have stayed at 30+ COE parks and Canyon Lake TX is the only one to enforce a streak check in time.
This is one instance where the early bird will no get the site.

Recreation.gov site says gate closes and locks at 10 pm. I arrived at 9:20 pm and the gate was locked. I am a single , 68 year old woman traveling by herself. The fact that you locked me out and did not honor your online hours is horrendous. I cannot begin to tell you the stress and hardship you made me endure.

The view from this site is fantastic. There is a little more space in between your neighbors due to this site being on the outside corner.

The Hosts there are so friendly. Checking in was a breeze and Potters creek is so beautiful. Wished we could have stayed longer.

Canyon Lake is beautiful, nestled in the Texas Hill Country, so we were really excited when we pulled in and set up our motorhome for a one-week stay. We always love Corps of Engineers campgrounds! Sadly, we had a bad experience here. There is no one patrolling or enforcing the rules so we had to endure blaring music and drunken partying at 1 and 2 a.m. several nights. Many unleashed dogs and unsupervised children running everywhere. People - children and adults - cutting through our site 2 feet from our door the entire time we were there, some dragging wagon loads of beach toys, canopies, chairs, and coolers. One guy even drove his golf cart right thru our site, parked it there, walked down to the lake, and left his radio blasting. I was sitting outside on the phone talking with my grandchildren back home and couldn't even hear them over his music. Random kids making themselves at home at our picnic table and playing football on our site next to our car. The ladies bathrooms were totally trashed - tp, used Q-tips, empty water bottles thrown on the muddy, filthy floor. Just awful! Many sites had 5 or 6 vehicles parked on the site and in the surrounding grass, and 10, 12, 15 people camping on a single site - again, no one patrolling to enforce the limits on vehicles or number people allowed per site. It was chaotic and ridiculous!
We will not camp here again. Giving 2 stars because the campground itself is quite beautiful. Such a shame it is so poorly managed.
