Double Lake Recreation Area offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with friendly hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean facilities. Many visitors appreciate the excellent hiking and biking trails, as well as the spacious, private campsites. While some areas need maintenance and improvements, overall, the park provides a great quick getaway close to Houston, making it a favorite for returning campers.

The lake was a big disappointment appeared to be more like a pond and a lake campground nicely spaced for RV. Nice walking areas.

Love the tent camping area. Peaceful and quiet but we tend to check in after the weekend peak times. Weather was a bit challenging first day and lake does not look good due to this year’s drought but you can’t control Mother Nature. Park is always clean with easy access.

Women’s bathroom smelled very bad the whole 4 days we were there and the shower did not work by the tent sights. Other than that, the camping was good.

Very nice wooded park. We had a great time. We hiked the paved trail around the lake on Saturday. Coldspring has some restaurants right down the road if you don't feel like cooking at the campsite. Our site didn't have a sewer connection so on Sunday on the way out we drove to a pull through site where there was no one and dumped our sewer there.

From New Waverly, Texas, go 22 mi east on Highway 150 to FM 2025. Turn and drive south 0.3 mi to the campground.

Double Lake Recreation Area is accessible via Highway 150, which is approximately 22 miles west of New Waverly, Texas.

General
- PLEASE DO NOT DISPOSE FLUSHABLE WIPES INTO CAMPGROUND WASTEWATER SYSTEM. THESE PRODUCTS CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOCKAGE ISSUES AND ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OUR WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM.
- Two vehicles included with each standard site fee; Four vehicles included with group site fee; extra vehicles charged $9 per night on-site
- Only two tents and up to eight people are allowed at a single occupancy campsite
- No access for newly arriving campers.
- Fire permitted in fire rings only
- Street Legal Vehicles Only
- No alcohol.
- Day use fee of $7 per vehicle per day; annual pass $30 per vehicle; walk-in or bicycle $1 per person per day; dump station use $5 per use
- Site must be occupied in the first 24 hours of reservations
