Please Mow!!!! Almost every time we come to High View the grass is tall and needs mowing. Our group we came with had to bring mowers and mow before we could camp. There is no excuse why this park is never mowed. This could be such a nice place if it would be kept up. One of the sites the firepit was full of trash!

The grass was very high, to almost my knees. You couldn't enjoy sitting by the fire pit or grilling food. My husband went and complained to the people at the front and they stated they were aware of the problem. They contract the ground maintenance out and the people haven't been back since Labor Day to mow it. The bathrooms were unacceptable as well. Either the lights didn't work, the shower head was pulled off or the sink was clogged in each of the 4 bathrooms. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night. I wouldn't have stayed after seeing it when we arrived, but we had already drove 3 hours to get there. We did get a one day refund. Very disappointing.

We have enjoyed this park in the past, but seems the last few stays have been very disappointing. Dumpster overflowing and the smell is awful and seems to have no personnel to do clean up at campsites.

Very nice park. I didn't try the bathrooms/showers, but did have some dealings with the ranger im charge who was a very nice lady that helped me change my space. I stayed two nights, and there were very few other people there, but probably because it was so hot the weekend I stayed.

From Ennis, Texas: From Interstate 45, exit onto U.S. Highway 287 Bypass (Exit #247). Travel 4.5 mi and exit at the Bardwell Lake exit sign. Turn left onto Highway 34 and go 2.5 mi southwest. After crossing the Bardwell Lake bridge, take the first left onto High View Park Road. Travel 0.2-mile to the High View Park entrance station.
Highway access
High View is accessible via Interstate 45 and U.S. Highway 287 Bypass, with the U.S. Highway 287 Bypass exit located approximately 4.5 miles from the campground.
Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
