What Guests Are Saying

High View offers beautiful views and a clean, well-maintained environment, with friendly staff and camp hosts. Many visitors enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and spacious sites, particularly those near the water. However, some guests experienced issues with electricity and site maintenance, noting uneven ground and high grass that detracted from their overall experience.

I was extremely disappointed to find out that my friends that we were camping with had to mow the grass themselves!! That is ridiculous!! The staff at the campground is ALWAYS pleasant and kind!! But, whomever they have contracted to mow the grass needs to do it more frequently!! We usually love to camp here, but we'll change locations if the situation isn't going to be taken care of.

We stayed here one night. Overall we had a good time. We stayed on the lake and it was great scenery. Only drawbacks are fairly minor. This is an older park and I don't understand after all these years why they don't plant a few trees to give some shade to the camp spots. Shade is always welcome in Texas. There are two other "sister" COE campsites at Bardwell lake that close 10/1 thru 3/31. The ranger didn't know why, but Oct. and March are great camping months in Texas. Also it seems the other two parks have much more shade. So we were disappointed they were closed. I guess High View stays open due to the marina.
The bathroom on the south end of the peninsula was locked and closed for "repairs". It made it a long walk to the other bathroom. But the N. most bathroom was excellent and very clean. There are many comments about the weed abundance and height and it is true in a lot of areas. But some areas are mowed and others have been sprayed to kill the weeds right next to the parking/camping pads. Take your weed eater if you don't know for sure.

Please Mow!!!! Almost every time we come to High View the grass is tall and needs mowing. Our group we came with had to bring mowers and mow before we could camp. There is no excuse why this park is never mowed. This could be such a nice place if it would be kept up. One of the sites the firepit was full of trash!

We were so disappointed with this campground. The grass was knee high around campsites, and the grass around the restroom was scary and dangerous. Luckily, we took a weed eater and used it on our site and our two neighbors.
Would not recommend it at all.
If there was cell service, no one told us.
