About Dana Peak

Dana Peak Campground is located on a peninsula on the shoreline of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in central Texas. The lake offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities, including water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, large group pavilions, hunting, fishing and more. The facility is one of only two reservable campgrounds on the lake and often fills up on weekends during summer. Stillhouse Hollow Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Stillhouse Hollow Dam in 1968. The 6,430-acre lake is located 16 miles upstream of the confluence of the Lampasas and Leon Rivers, which flow into the Little River.

Dana Peak was a nice and easily accessed location. The lake, Stillhouse Hollow, has the clearest water I’ve experienced in Texas. In the marina area, visibility was 10’ or more. The lake shores are mostly rocky (including Dana Point) so we had to anchor our jet skis slightly offshore. The lake is beautiful; however, there are significant shallow areas where it would be easy to get a jet ski tangled. Park representatives were very courteous and helpful. I would definitely consider staying there again to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and surprisingly clear water.

Most relaxing place we have ever been. Lots of wildlife running around. Plenty of room between sites. Beautiful sunsets over the water.
