What Guests Are Saying
The Lavonia campground offers beautiful lake views and a generally clean environment, with some guests appreciating the spacious sites and friendly park hosts. However, many reviews highlight significant maintenance issues, including poor restroom conditions, uneven sites, and a lack of working amenities. We thought the park attendants were so kind and helpful. The two lots we stayed at during our stay were both beautiful and all hookups worked great! There was some dog feces on our lot from the previous campers which wasn't fun but other than maybe checking the lots between campers or enforcing dog rules it was a great place to stay!

While this could be a very nice park, the sites are unlevel and in a state of disrepair. We have a senior pass which makes the camping $15.00 per night, I would never consider paying full price ($30.00) per night for this place since it doesn't appear that anything has been repaired in years.

Staff here is SUPER nice and friendly. Campground has added sewer connections which is great. Some of the sites are a bit hard to get into or get completely level but there is a new bath house and the view of the lake is fantastic, especially from Site 3 which is right on the top of the hill!

I live only 15 minutes from this park, yet without a trailer I have not camped here in over 30 years. Having taken delivery of my new travel trailer, I was pleasantly surprised at the facilities in the hookups were great! Didn't mind the half-price off because of my national parks card either.

So many problems with this park!
Many of the sites have an extreme grade, so much so that I was never able to get even close to level (even with jacks and helper blocks, the house was uncomfortable off-kilter). I experienced severe voltage drop in three different sites...sometimes down below 80 volts, which is low enough to damage or simply kill air conditioner compressors, and was enough to cause my computer to shut down a few times while I was working. On days when the park was mostly empty, the voltage drop was less notable..usually remaining above 100V, which is safe enough for most things. But when it filled up, it was downright hazardous. To be fair, it was very cold, and so I assume folks were running extra space heaters, etc. (I was running one space heater, but even without anything running, voltage was too low and unreliable to safely run my AC in heat pump mode). I've rarely come across a park with power this weak in 11 years of traveling.
Most of the sites have sewer hookups, which is great and rare for a CoE park, but I happened to end my stay in a site without one as it was too close to the water...only to find that the dump station was locked for seemingly no reason and with no signage indicating it was closed or for what reason (just a lock on the hookup), so I was stuck carrying around full tanks until my next destination. And, due to the extreme grade, when I was in a site that did have sewer hookup, it was still impossible to fully empty the tanks.
There are sites in the southern section of the park that have less severe grade, some are even close to level, so if you can get one of those, it's probably OK (though voltage might be a problem there, too, I don't know).
The redeeming characteristics are that the sites are big and nicely spread out, the park is quiet, and there's plenty of room to walk and enjoy the lake. Nearby East Fork or Hickory Creek are where I'll stay next time I'm in the area.

Gorgeous view! We had site #15 with a bit of a leveling challenge. Noticed that many of the sites were also considerably sloped. It was good for us to learn! We were only there for a night. Would absolutely return!

We have been here for 10 days and have enjoyed each day. This time of year (Jan, Feb) the campground is quiet and well cared for. The bathrooms/showers are very clean and warm. There is a small staff of volunteers who are working hard keeping up with all the must do work!! Highly recommended

It was hard to find a fairly level campsite.
