About Union Grove

Union Grove Park is located on the southwestern shore of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in central Texas. The lake offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities, including water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, large group pavilions, hunting, fishing and simply enjoying the scenery. This facility has RV and tent camping sites with water and electric hookups available, as well as three screen shelters available for guests without camping equipment. The facility is one of only two reservable campgrounds on the lake. Stillhouse Hollow Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Stillhouse Hollow Dam in 1968. The 6,430-acre lake is located 16 miles upstream of the confluence of the Lampasas and Leon Rivers, which flow into the Little River.

We love camping at Union Grove. Trailer sites are in the water and there are beautiful views of the sunset and sunrise. Not too many campsites so it is quiet.

Better security in swim area needed. There were campers in the tent site beside the swim area shooting BB guns into swim area and fishing in swim area. Other campers in area with dogs running loose.

We stayed in site#1, it has a beautiful view of the lake and shade, glorious shade. The park is clean but the restroom/ showers were pristine, kudos to the volunteers. The park is quiet and that was very much appreciated. We already made reservations for this fall. Might just be one of our favorite spots.

The entire campground was overgrown and needed to be mowed. Another guest brought a lawnmower and let us borrow it. Thank goodness. We had to mow around our own site, this is unacceptable. The dump was overflowing and we had to go to the gas station and pay to empty our tanks. The trash cans were also overflowing. It is a shame, this could be an incredible park if it were maintained properly! Very disappointed!

The people who stayed the night before did not leave the site till 5 pm, though check out was at 2. The host was no where to be found when I called and went to their campsite over the 3 hours it took for them to leave. Aside from that, everything was ok

We’ve been in this park multiple times. Have never seen it the way it is. Dana Peak which is right across the lake from us. Looks amazing. Grass cut down and rv spots really taken care off. Can’t say the same anymore about Union Grove. Rv spots have high grass and picnic areas with grass almost reaching the picnic tables. Someone needs to address this issue. This is federal property and should not look like this. No one is ever at the gate. When is say never is never. Not even a few hours of the day. I love coming to this park since is only minutes from my residence. But while this problem gets resolved i will be going elsewhere.

Site 37 was full of loud partiers on first night. 11:35PM went to find host who went there to quiet them. As soon as he left, as expected, the partiers cranked the music up louder and began shouting insults at my camp site. I ended up sleeping in my pickup truck for relief and safety. The campground host or Corps of Engineers ranger should patrol the park at quiet time. It is obvious to all when campers show up WITHOUT any camping gear and a boom box and disco lights that they are not there to camp but to be a nuisance to other campers. I should be REFUNDED my fee!
