Had a horrible experience at this campground. It looked nice when we pulled in but it all went downhill from there. Would definitely NOT recommend for anyone tent camping; although advertised for both RVs and tents, the winds coming off of Lake Waco can be damagingly strong. We staked both our tent and rain fly but the winds were so forceful that our tent poles were bent beyond repair. Couldn’t even stay one night - we had to disassemble everything, pack it all up, and make last-minute reservations at a hotel less than 3 hours after arriving at our campsite. Also, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. While we obviously don’t expect much from campground bathrooms, this one was the worst we’ve ever seen. The building was falling apart, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years, and there was no running water so we couldn’t shower or flush toilets. Although we’ve enjoyed all other state parks we’ve camped in so far, we will never return to or recommend Speegleville. If you’re camping in an RV, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad, but if you plan to tent, DO NOT stay here.

Our spot was right on the lake!
We ended up staying an extra day because we loved our spot on the lake.
We will definitely be back!

Park ranger canceled our reservations because of possible flooding which was understandable but only got credit for 4 nights of the five we had left. Had to try & find reservations at another park & didn’t get credit for days canceled

We used this as a place to stay when we visited Waco, It turns out this campground is also a destination place. Will return to enjoy the lake and the wildlife. Big rig friendly.

Always a pleasure when we visit the park. We do it several times a year. Love the deer, and other wild life that visit our camping experience every time we are there.
